GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine) first isolated from human plasma, where its concentration declines steadily with age. In tissue-repair models, it has been shown to activate wound-healing and antioxidant gene pathways, increase collagen and elastin production in fibroblasts, and support angiogenesis and glycosaminoglycan synthesis in skin. Copper delivery via GHK-Cu also appears to upregulate the body's own antioxidant enzymes, including superoxide dismutase, reducing oxidative stress markers in irradiated skin-cell models. It remains one of the most extensively studied copper peptides in dermal regeneration research.
